Why do markers, routes or map details look wrong?
Why is a place marker missing from my clip?
Points can start hidden in a new clip, even while the flashlight overlay highlights their positions.
- Select the hidden point in the clip and press V to change its visibility.
- To show several hidden points together, select those points and press V.
- Switch off the flashlight overlay and play the relevant part of the clip to check the actual marker.
The flashlight helps you find hidden points while editing. Its highlight is not the marker's visibility in the finished clip.
Once the point is visible, check Points Appear. This sets how many seconds before the animated route reaches a point its marker appears:
- 0: the marker appears when the route reaches it.
- 2: the marker appears two seconds before the route reaches it.
Move the timeline cursor to just before that moment and play through it. Raising Points Appear makes the marker appear earlier; it does not turn a hidden point on. The Track Following video walkthrough shows how visibility and Points Appear work together.
If the marker is still missing, note which point is affected and the time when you expect it to appear. Include the clip type and app version when asking for help.
Why is my route line not animating?
An inactive track does not animate. Set the intended track to active in the current clip, then play the timeline again.
In the Circling Around video walkthrough, new clips start with their tracks inactive. The camera can orbit the place while the route stays still; activating the track adds route animation to that orbit.
For Point-to-Point, also check that the track passes near the key points. The Point-to-Point walkthrough explains this relationship. Track activity and geographic proximity are separate checks.
If the track still stays static, include your clip type, app version and the affected track when asking for help. Say whether this happens in the preview, the exported video, or both.
Why does the preview show map squares or a route through terrain?
In the interactive preview, map tiles can appear as squares while the camera moves and map data loads. The preview can also show the route line shining through the terrain. These effects are demonstrated in the application guide; they do not by themselves establish what the finished video will look like.
Move the white timeline cursor to the affected moment. Compare it with the same moment in an exported file made from that clip version. The final render can look better than the interactive preview. If the exported frame is correct, the effect was confined to the preview; if the defect remains in the file, it needs further investigation.
When asking for help, include the location, time in the clip, clip type, app version and operating system. State whether the defect appears in the preview, the exported video, or both. A screenshot or short extract from the video helps show the issue.
