JJ Help Center

Answers and practical help for JJ Route Animator.

Getting Started

How do I create my first map clip?

Which download should I choose?

Open Download App and choose the Windows build or the macOS build for your processor: Intel or Apple Silicon. JJ is a desktop app; there is no phone version. Connect your computer to the internet before using it.

You can start the free 14-day period without registering or adding a card.

What should I prepare for a first clip?

Start with one journey you want to show. Create or choose an Event to keep its places, routes and clips together.

Find the places inside JJ or add points manually, then build a route along roads. If you already have route data, import a KML or KMZ file into the Event instead. Check that the expected route and places appear on the map.

How do I turn the route into an animation?

  1. Choose Track Following to make a clip that follows the route.
  2. Set the clip duration and camera. Frame the part of the journey you want the viewer to follow.
  3. Preview it on the timeline. Check the route animation, camera movement and the appearance of place markers.
  4. Save a version when you want to keep that set of clip settings.
  5. Choose the frame shape and export. Review the resulting video file before using it in your edit or post.

Creating a route inside JJ covers preparation; exporting a clip covers the final checks.

The Track Following video walkthrough shows the duration, camera and marker checks. The road-trip example shows how a route clip can introduce the next stop before you cut to footage filmed there.

What if I want to show a place rather than a route?

Choose Circling Around to orbit a place, Point-to-Point to move between places, or a Zoom+ or Zoom- clip for zoom-based camera movement. The route-following workflow is one starting point; each clip type serves a different shot.
