How do I change clip duration, marker timing and pauses?
How do I change duration without losing the camera framing?
Set the clip duration in seconds. In Track Following, JJ uses the track and duration to calculate camera altitude, so a duration change can alter the view as well as the pace.
- Set the duration you need.
- Play a recognisable section of the route and check the camera height.
- If the longer clip now follows too many small bends, increase altitude or adjust the angle.
- Recalculate the timeline and replay that section.
The walkthrough shows the camera moving closer to the track when duration increases. Do not keep adding time solely to fix a winding camera path; check altitude as well.
How do I show a marker before the route reaches it?
Points Appear sets the lead time for a marker relative to the animated track reaching that place.
- First make the point visible in the clip.
- Set Points Appear to the number of seconds of advance notice you want.
- Move the playhead to just before the route reaches that point and play through the arrival.
- 2: the marker appears two seconds before the route reaches the point.
- 0: the marker appears when the route reaches the point.
If the marker still never appears, check its visibility. This setting schedules an enabled marker; changing the value does not show a point that is hidden. The Track Following walkthrough demonstrates these visibility and timing controls together.
How do I pause the track at a place?
Use breaking points to create stops and separate shots within a clip. When the animated track reaches a breaking point, it pauses and the corresponding shot is shown.
- Set breaking points at the places where the route should pause.
- Play through each approach, stop, and departure to check the sequence.
- Export and check the completed clip.
- If you need individual inserts for a larger video, cut the exported clip at those stops in your video editor.
Save the clip version after checking its duration, marker arrivals, and pauses together. That gives you a scenario you can return to when making later timing changes.
Breaking points divide the action inside a clip. They do not replace cutting the exported file into separate inserts in your video editor.
