What are Events, tracks, points and clips?
What belongs in an Event?
An Event groups the materials for a trip or project: its tracks, points and the clips you create. Think of an Event as the place to keep one trip together.
- A track is the path of a route.
- A point marks a place. Its visible label or sign helps identify that place on the map.
You can prepare a road route inside JJ or import tracks and points from KML/KMZ files.
What does a clip add?
A clip defines how the camera presents the geography over time, including the chosen clip type, duration and settings. The track describes where the route goes; the clip describes the shot.
For example, the same trip can contain a Track Following clip along its route and a Circling Around clip around a landmark. They are different camera scenarios within the trip.
The timeline previews the clip at different moments. A version saves a particular set of scenario settings so you can return to it. Export creates the video file you can publish or take into a video editor.
If a route is visible but does not animate, check whether the track is active in the clip. If the route moves but a place name is missing, check the point’s visibility and appearance time instead. These are separate controls.
Is a key point the same as a visible marker?
No. A key point has a role in the camera scenario: it is the centre of rotation in Circling Around or one of the places the camera moves between in Point-to-Point.
A visible place marker does not automatically become the centre of an orbit. If the camera focuses on the wrong place, check the key-point setup; if a marker is missing, check point visibility.
